The class of physical education is not given here at Diamond Tech which was something I was not used too. The reason for this was because I came from a different school that had PE and we had it every other day. Many people would think that would be a negative of coming to this school, but to me, I didn’t mind if there was or wasn’t PE. I honestly thought it was something cool to see that a high school did not give PE, but don’t get it twisted. They do require it as a graduation requirement, but you can do it by playing a sport, going to the gym, or like what I did was count my steps. I was required to do twenty credits of PE, but I already had ten credits from my previous school. I took PE my freshmen year, so I now had to finish ten credits by the end of my senior year. At first, I thought this was going to be hard for me because I had never had to do PE on my own. I slowly started counting my steps in the middle of my senior year because I noticed that if I didn't start then, I would never get it done.
I kept putting it off, but it was something I needed to get done soon. I didn't get to complete my credits/steps right away. I was running short on three credits. I eventually got them done, and I felt like this was something I got off my chest. I knew that I should've done it earlier, but I learned from my mistakes to not leave important things to the last minute.
The process I had to go through was to get all my steps from the previous months, and these coming up months and add them up. Then, I calculated to see how many steps I had in total. I divided them up by ten to see how many hours I got. Next, I would see how many hours I got total, and that would calculate how many credits I had.
The first SLO I have demonstrated is that I am a self-directed learner who communicates effectively. The way I showed this was by motivating myself and finally getting my PE credits done. I talked with Ms. Keller and Esther so that they could verify that my PE credits were correct and turned in. This is important because if I do not speak up for myself, I would've never finished my PE credits.
The second SLO I demonstrated was mastering skills needed in career and college. I did this by getting all my PE credits done. I will have to do this all over again in college, so I'll know now not to leave it towards the last minute. This will help me with being more efficient with my time.
Overall, the most important things I have learned this year is that I have to manage my time and be efficient. I know now that it is better to get things done sooner than later. I will get something off my chest, and I will have more time to do other essential things.
